Make a GIF from a video, free
Drop a clip, choose a few seconds, crop the part you want and export a GIF. The size readout is measured from your actual footage, so you know what you get before it renders. Everything runs on your device.
Works in Chrome, Edge and Safari 17 or newer. Nothing is uploaded.
How it works
-
1
Drop your video
MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV. It opens instantly because nothing is uploaded.
-
2
Pick the moment and the look
Set the start and end, drag the crop frame, then choose width, frame rate, speed and whether it loops.
-
3
Export and download
The GIF plays right there when it is done. Save it and drop it anywhere.
Questions people ask
GIF stores every frame as a picture, so length, width and frame rate multiply. Keep it under about 5 seconds, 480 pixels wide and 15 frames per second for a file that posts well. The estimate updates as you change these.
GIF is limited to 256 colours per frame. Dithering, which is on by default, spreads that limit into a fine pattern that looks smoother. Turn it off for flat graphics and smaller files.
Yes. Switch off "loop forever" and the GIF plays once.
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser. Your file stays on your device.
Chrome, Edge and Safari 17 or newer on desktop and Android. Firefox does not support the video APIs the tool needs yet.
