Questions people ask

How does it make the file smaller?

By re-encoding the video at a lower bitrate, and optionally at a lower resolution. A lower bitrate means fewer bytes per second of video, which is where most of the savings come from.

Will it look worse?

A little, depending on how far you go. Halving a typical phone recording is usually invisible. The tool warns when a target is low enough to show artefacts.

Can I hit an exact file size?

You can set a target in megabytes and the tool derives the bitrate for it. The result lands close to the target, usually slightly under.

Do you upload my video?

No. The tool runs entirely in your browser. Your file stays on your device.

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome, Edge and Safari 17 or newer on desktop and Android. Firefox does not support the video APIs the tool needs yet.
