Convert 4K to 1080p, free

4K files are large and slow to share, and most screens show 1080p just as well. Drop your clip and 1080p is preselected. Pick a quality level, check the estimated size, and export a file that is often four times smaller.

Works in Chrome, Edge and Safari 17 or newer. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. 1

    Drop your 4K video

MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV. It opens instantly because nothing is uploaded.

  2. 2

    Keep 1080p, pick a quality

The 1080p preset is selected. Move the quality slider if you want a smaller file or the best possible picture.

  3. 3

    Export and download

The video is scaled and re-encoded on your device. The aspect ratio stays the same.

Questions people ask

Will 1080p look sharp?

On a phone, a laptop or a TV viewed from a normal distance, yes. 1080p is what most streaming services deliver by default. The difference shows only on large 4K screens up close.

How much smaller does the file get?

Around three to four times smaller at the same quality level, since 1080p has a quarter of the pixels. You can shrink it further with the quality slider.

Does it keep the aspect ratio?

Yes. The longest side becomes 1920 pixels and the other side scales with it. A 3840 by 2160 clip becomes 1920 by 1080; a vertical clip becomes 1080 by 1920.

Do you upload my video?

No. The tool runs entirely in your browser. Your file stays on your device.

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome, Edge and Safari 17 or newer on desktop and Android. Firefox does not support the video APIs the tool needs yet.
